Who doesn’t have those pesty ants especially this time of the year? Well, I thought I’d share different household items used to help you sleep sounder knowing the ants are gone!

  1. Adhesive tape: Surround your cookie jar (or whatever you have attracting the ants) with tape, sticky side up.
  2. Aluminum Pie Pans: Use an aluminum pie pan filled with about a halfinch of water to create a mote around your pet’s food dish.
  3. Borax: Surround your home with borax to keep ants out. Warning: Borax is harmful if ingested especially for small children and pets.
  4. Chalk: Draw a line around your home at the entry points. The ants are repelled by the calcium carbonate in the chalk, which is made up of ground-up and compressed shells of marine animals. You can also scatter powdered chalk around your plants to repel ants and slugs.

If you want to know more about how to repel ants, Check out the book Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things by Readers Digest.
